Short Term Accommodation
Short Term Accommodation is temporary funding in your NDIS plan that covers accommodation costs during times of transition or change. To be eligible you must have a home you are moving into and you need somewhere to live in the medium term until those arrangements can be made, for example your home is receiving building modifications.

What is Short Term Accommodation for NDIS Plans
Short Term Accommodation (STA) provides temporary housing solutions when you’re transitioning to a more permanent living arrangement.
For instance, STA can be beneficial if you’re awaiting necessary home modifications to your new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property.
NDIS funding for STA is typically provided as a one-time support. Stays usually range from a maximum of three months (90 days) to six months (180 days) for individuals being discharged from hospital.
Through Oyster care’s person-centred active support approach, we support your choices and ensure that assistance is available when needed for daily tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and personal care within your supported home.

Our Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Qualify For NDIS Short Term Accommodation?
Short Term Accommodation is available to those whose usual carers need time off, or are unable to work. It is also available for those transitioning between supports or into SIL. Additionally, it is available to those who want time away from their usual home setting to experience new situations and go back to your home with a new mindset. Funding may depend on the specifics of your NDIS Plan.
SDA is for individuals that require properties with specific requirements (e.g. accessible bathrooms, corridors of specific width for wheelchairs, ramp access etc). You will receive specific funding for this in addition to the SIL funding within your or your loved ones NDIS Plan.
Maple has partnerships with SDA Providers right across the country, to ensure we are always able to accommodate our communities’ needs.
Does NDIS Pay for Short Term Accommodation?
Yes, the NDIS can fund Short Term Accommodation for up to 14 days if you or your carer need time away from your usual living situation. It can cover personal care, accommodation, food, and activities you and your provider agree on.
