What is Medium Term Accommodation for NDIS Plans

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) provides temporary housing solutions when you’re transitioning to a more permanent living arrangement.
For instance, MTA can be beneficial if you’re awaiting necessary home modifications to your new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property.

NDIS funding for MTA is typically provided as a one-time support. Stays usually range from a maximum of three months (90 days) to six months (180 days) for individuals being discharged from hospital.

Through Oyster care’s person-centred active support approach, we support your choices and ensure that assistance is available when needed for daily tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and personal care within your supported home.

Can MTA be included in my NDIS plan?

A SIL provider manages the supports you or your loved one needs to live independently in the accommodation. This can include managing staff who work in the home, help with meal preparation and cleaning, assistance with personal care, and help with community access.

SDA is for individuals that require properties with specific requirements (e.g. accessible bathrooms, corridors of specific width for wheelchairs, ramp access etc). You will receive specific funding for this in addition to the SIL funding within your or your loved ones NDIS Plan.

Maple has partnerships with SDA Providers right across the country, to ensure we are always able to accommodate our communities’ needs.

Yes! If you have high support needs and require ongoing assistance to live independently, MTA can be added to your plan after an assessment with your NDIS planner or support coordinator.
